A difficult situation- Faced recently

hi
In M/East ward,(Govandi and Mankhurd) there are lots of PAP (Project Affected People) tenements constructed by MMRDA and MHADA.The problem is nearly 280 tenements are trespassed by people without any authority letter from MCGM at Natwar parekh Compound, G.M.Link Road
As they are in M/East ward possession ,we had planned a massive eviction operation during 17th and 18th October. All tenements were evacuated and sealed with the help of  100 odd police, 250 labours and 30 officers and 25 security guards.
There were lot of resistance from people, including bid of self immolation . The agents cheated people of few lakh ruppes and prepared fake document showing allotment by MCGM.
The situation today is that (19th evening) almost all are again occupied by people despite security and police watch. It is also learnt that, one old lady died yesterday in the compound
 Now the Difficult situation is
1) With all diligent and huge efforts(one of the  biggest  in Corporation) by the staff and police,we did not gain anything
2)Chances are ,you may read in paper the distorted version of our  efforts

 The questions are
How such agents move in society, who cheat people and sale MCGM tenements on fake documents?
How come police is unaware  of this?
What about all the efforts put in by all staff in evacuating trespassers ?
How legal project affected people can get tenements?
How much more efforts the staff of MCGM should put in?

A question to all-what is good for society?

hi
we have seen that, unethical practices are followed by all sectors, private as well as public. It would be good for society if such practices are reduced from both the sectors. However, if  you were asked a question-

which is more good for society, eradication of unethical practices from private sectors or Public sectors?----what is your answer?
    where do we start first?

Any answers?

Ethics and Birbal

hi
Once Akbar and Birbal were moving in the market..Akbar saw everything was going smoothly. To test the moral value ,he asked some traders the cost of one specific goods. Each one of them said the same cost.

"Look ,Birbal ,how much high moral our people have"

"It is not true" replied Birbal.
"You have to prove the same" Akbar said

"Ok., not now" Birbal said politely

After few days, Birbal announced to king." It is auspicious to bath in milk pond on first day of next month., I will arrange for you"
Birbal announced to public that, each family have to donate one pot of milk on new moon night.and put it in the pond directly

He then, prepared a pond and some enclousers around it for people to pour milk in pond during dark night

Next day, when King and Birbal went to pond ,they were surprised to see ,that the pond was filled almost with water, with hardly a trace of milk..Akbar asked ,what is this Birbal?

"Jahapanah, this is the moral and ethics of your people. Knowing well ,no body is watching and thinking what is the harm if one pot of water is added to pond of milk, people did not obey your orders.

Moral of the story is
Character and ethics are true ,when they are observed ,even if no body is watching us.

thanks note from Prasad Joshi

It’s been great to be in Panchgani in this season. Asia Plateau is a most beautiful spot in Panchgani. And five days stay at such place is really heavenly. In this serene surrounding you are allowed to unwind and to look inside into your personality and try initiate the change. Normally such initiatives as shared by earlier participant give results to nearly extreme moral response and may result as life changing experience.Certainly our esteemed Municipal Commissioner have something different in mind. He never expects such extreme responses as rightly put up time to time by Dr. Kshirsagar Sir (Deputy municipal Commissioner) but expects us to be more sensitized about ethical issues. In US , such issues about ethics are considered even during the military operation. We are certainly not involved in war like situation but may have dilemma in real life decision making process. These decisions are for the benefit of our own citizens. Then certainly we are expected to be ethically sensitive in such decisions
The workshop has certainly helped us to evolve into a better person. The emphasis was to focus on a individual than on a group for Initiative of change. We had very inspiring presentations from eminent persons like Dr. Hegde and Mr. Sudhir Gogte. A steady and gentle but forceful push from course director Mr. R.Rajgopalan and Mr. Dilip Patel pushed us to think about our personality from inside and to amend wherever felt necessary. Prabhat Kumar Sir, Rajpal Sir gave us courage to face real life situations in daily working.
Morning Tea Ceremony, Service, Wash-up and trekking to table top once increased our sense of belonging to the whole group. Thanks to Dr. Kshirsagar saheb, there was no awkwardness in interpersonal relationship among participants. Instead there was a kind of responsible (a very rare) openness in the group. Certainly officers working with him can be considered more lucky.
One of the unexpected phenomenon of all 48 participants right on the dot for all sessions surprised our course directors and was well appreciated by them. A full participation of family groups in group activities is very well appreciated. No untoward incidence and a responsible behavior of all officers during the course has changed the opinion of MRA staff towards municipal staff. The food served was absolutely fantastic . I am not disclosing the daily routine but I can assure next batches that the time will not be available for any extra activity other than course.
I must thank first to Shri Kunte saheb for giving such opportunity and improve our moral and ethical values in personal life. Thanks to all fellow participants and specially to room partner Sahebrao Gaekwad who is incidently my college mate also. Thanks to Sanjog Kabre Sir and Kshirsagar saheb for making the journey to panchgani a most memorable. And thanks to MRA for making us Friend of Moral Re-armament. And as the focus was on individual I assure myself and others to deposit more and more to rebuild the character bank of India and to contribute to ethical governance in Mumbai.
Thank You !

Why it is not easy to be ethical?

hi
At the out set I shall put one question to start the ball rolling.
Why it is not easy to be ethical?

We are like Duryodhan (I am sorry not actually),in the battle field who confess like this

"janami dhrmam,na cha me pravruti,
janami adhrmam na cha me nivruti"

which states

" I am aware and know what is good (ethical),but I can not do it. I am also aware about what is wrong (unethical), but I can not restrain myself from doing the same"

Any answers?
